RAMBLINGS FROM CHAD:

(August 23, 2010)

We got to vote on the new water park, we get to vote (probably) on the proposed river walk. Why don’t we get to vote on when the first day of school should be? I’ve not met one person who thinks a mid August through mid May school year makes any sense.  Look, summer is June, July and August, Memorial Day to Labor Day. Give the kids those months off.

(August 4, 2010)

Man it’s hot. I try not to complain too much about the heat, considering I work indoors but this is getting ridiculous. Cows are dropping dead, Kenwood Cove is packed and my air conditioner at home never seems to cycle off.

The heat has me thinking about the old days, the really old days. There’s no way it was this hot in prehistoric times, we wouldn’t have moved out of our caves if it were.

It also explains why old people are so cranky. They’re still mad about growing up with no A/C.  Seriously though, bless you all who work outside.  You are much tougher than me, please don’t beat me up.

(July 21, 2010)

I just read that Taylor Swift is up for another big award, the Bowling Hall of Fame, seriously. I know what you’re thinking, Taylor Swift is a great bowler? No, she’s not. She’s actually nominated because she's been "frequently spotted and photographed hitting the lanes with celebrity friends."

I guess Jack Nicholson is a shoo in for the NBA Hall of Fame.

(July 7, 2010)

Every cloud has a silver lining.  The postponement of Skyfire on the 4th means we get a second opportunity to celebrate this year. It’s like a bonus holiday, Independence Week.

They haven’t rescheduled Playday in the Park though, which means someone, somewhere has about a thousand hot dogs, ice cream bars and slices of watermelon that are going unused. I want to hang out with that guy.

(June 24, 2010)

If you’re headed to Country Stampede this week there are a few things you need to know.

1.
Bring a lawn chair. Unless you’re in the VIP area seats are not provided. You’ll want to bring one.

2.
Where to sit. Early in the day feel free to put your chair as close to the stage as possible, as day gives was to night you may want to move back some.  The areas close to the stage get very crowded and occasionally rowdy.

3.
Traffic. At peak times traffic can really back up. I’d advise getting there as early as possible and leaving before the final act is finished.

4.
Food and Drinks. You can’t carry food or beverages into the festival grounds. You can however keep a cooler in your car and go in and out for snacks, meals and drinks.

5. Kids tickets. Many people don’t realize that kids tickets are cheaper. In fact kids 5 and under are free while kids 6-12 can get 4 day passes for $25 or single day passes for $15.

(May 13, 2010)

So Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are now officially engaged.  What I find interesting is that he asked Miranda's father for her hand in marriage.

What if he'd said no? Where do you go from there?  Would you still be allowed to date or do you have to break up?

This is Blake's second marriage, Miranda's first. Would he still have to ask for her hand if she'd been married before? Would he ask for her other hand? What if it was her third marriage? Would you then ask for a foot?

Is the father allowed to make this decision on his own or does he have to consult his wife? I'm barely allowed to pick out my own shoes, I'm quite certain that my wife wouldn't allow to make a decision like this on my own.

What if the father says yes and the daughter says no? Does she still have to marry him?

Seems complicated.

I recommend Vegas!
